Q&A(BOUT ME)

I’m Federico Cogliandro, a cartoonist and screenwriter specialized in the art of awkward comedy. My work lives primarily in the realm of autofiction—essentially, I rebrand my daily failures as intentional narrative choices. While my pen is most at home in the world of humor, my writing frequently ventures into broader, more complex territories and genres that often demand a canvas beyond a comic panel

  1. Is that actually you in your books, or should I start worrying?
In my work, the supporting cast and I (yes, even Loddo) are exaggerated versions of our real selves. I follow a 60/40 rule: 60% never happened, and the other 40% happened, but in a way that made for a better story. So, yes. Be worried, just not too much.
  2. Who is to blame for this specific brand of discomfort?
Why would you do this to me?! The list of “conspirators” is long, but the top five names on the list are: Bill Watterson, Judd Apatow, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Dan Harmon, and Bryan Lee O’Malley.
  3. If your stories had a soundtrack, what would they sound like?
Imagine an improbable crossover between a Mimmo Cavallaro Tarantella and the Midwest Emo of American Football. Basically, a panic attack you can dance to.
  4. Is your art style a conscious choice or a side effect of your sense of humor?
A bit of both. My love for comedy definitely shaped my stylistic growth, but once I realized that was happening, I leaned into it and made the whole process much more intentional.
  5. Is there a long-term plan behind all of this, or are we just following you blindly?
    Hehhhhh..……if only you knew. (Yes.)
